✨ An Evening of Art & Gastronomy

This collaboration brought together two worlds of artistry — internationally recognized sand artist James Sun and Canada’s rising culinary star Chef Forrest Liu.

For this special evening, James prepared a portrait of Moez Kassam’s Instagram profile — carefully crafted over the course of a week, using only grains of sand — as a surprise gift.

During the dinner, James also performed a mesmerizing sand bottle art show: using a fine needle to patiently build up colored sand, layer by layer, into intricate patterns and logos. Each movement required precision and patience, and as the image slowly emerged inside the glass, the audience witnessed art and time crystallizing together.

At the same time, Chef Forrest curated a menu that wove together imagination, memory, and flavour — each dish a dialogue between nostalgia and innovation.

Moez Kassam

More than a financier, he is known for savoring life the way one savors a fine meal: thoughtfully, passionately, and with curiosity for every flavor the world has to offer. His journey — from building one of Canada’s most respected hedge funds to supporting hospitals, libraries, and Olympic athletes — reflects both discipline and generosity. A visionary investor, philanthropist, and gastronome, Moez embraces life like a well-crafted dish — layered, balanced, and deeply human.

Chef Forrest Liu

At age 17, Forrest began his cooking career inside one of the world’s most renowned kitchens, Jean Georges. To expand his repertoire, he emigrated to Toronto to study at one of top ten Culinary schools in North America, George Brown College. After graduation, he worked with Canada’s most distinguished Chefs such as Top Chef Canada judges Susur Lee and Mark McEwan. The loyalty of his patrons is evidence showcasing his love for the craft and the high quality cuisine he brings to the table.

“I want the narrative of my food to bring nostalgic flavours, birthed by the ideas of my imagination, dissolved into pure euphoria in each and every bite.” – Forrest Liu

About the Artist

James Sun — Crafting Dreams with Sand

James developed a profound passion for art from a young age. He's not just a sand artist but also a storyteller. His sand art amalgamates his thoughts, emotions, and his love for music and art. Each piece narrates a story from his heart, and every performance establishes an intimate dialogue with the audience.

He once remarked:
“Sand, such a simple element, yet it holds endless creativity and potential. Every grain carries its own story, and as they flow through my hands, it feels as if moments of life are being rewoven.”
